Magic The Gathering is a cards game I really like. Unfortunately, it requests some things we do not always have with us: a paper and a pen. Some days ago, I was applying for a position at Black Lantern and the test was to create a game following a certain design within 3 days.
Each time it was necessary to create a new game I have used two starting points: either starting from scratch either modifying an existing game which was still laborious. Now it is time to create a complete engine, game-specific independent. I have always tried to keep everything black-boxed and every components of the engine independents. However, at the end of the day, the gameplay of the game was not high-leveled enough and so the reuse of the engine was not obvious.

MissingLink is the result of 10-members teamwork including 8 Norwegian artists and 2 French programmers (at the beginning we were 4 programmers but 2 of us left the project just before the start). Great experience to work like a team but it was not so easy.

Skeleton + killer = SkelKiller!
Nowadays, most of the games available out there include a multiplayer mode. It could be massive and persistent (MMOG) or not (just like FPS games), there are a lot of issues to fix in order to provide a comfortable game to play with.
Probably the only one article I am going to write about animation programming.
